Idle is smoother and better throttle response upon gasing it and easy to install however they are pricy but quality is there

5Smooth sailing for an old engine.
By Versatile Explorer
I had some old AC Delco spark plugs that I didn't install that looked dirty and worn down. I replaced them with these New High Quality Spark Plugs. I think these are the best you can get for an old car.

I haven't noticed any changes but I also didn't document any acceleration times for comparison. I also replaced the Rotor and Distributor Cap at the same time and new Spark Plug wires.

But I'm hoping that somehow these replacements will improve my engine and gas mileage when compared to the previous historical data.

The most significant thing that improved my car engine was using Sea Foam to flush out carbon deposits through the vacuum lines. Then doing an oil change using a Royal Purple Oil Filter and Royal Purple 5W-30 Oil. I'd try AmSoil but the inconvenience of ordering through them and the high price vs buying Royal Purple through Amazon was the deciding factor. I'll probably try AmSoil in the future but Royal Purple was easier and more abundant and hardly out of stock. Texas Tea is a good alternative but they seem to be out of stock often in comparison but probably on the level of AmSoil quality.

After all these modifications the Engine was not as loud and seemed to run smoother. The Spark Plugs, Spark Plug Wires, Distributor Cap, and Rotor didn't seem to have much effect. Had I done these first before the Oil change procedure I might have noticed something.

Anyhow, if you do everything I stated above, you'll probably pass your smog emissions. I had the worst emissions and was labeled a GROSS POLLUTER. Because of all these changes everything passed to near cleanest levels although only the HydroCarbons were just matching the maximum so I got lucky. I had to replace a worn down PCV hose that had a small crack near the mouth. The smog technician was pretty anal about it being replaced with a new one. I had repaired it myself with gorilla tape and a cable tie and he classified my result as TAMPERING and that's how I got those impressive emissions results that PASSED. But the fact the PCV hose was TAMPERED (REPAIRED in my book), I had to shell out money for a new PCV hose and another smog test. But it was well worth it to know through all my efforts had made a dramatic difference and paid off immensely. The smog technician was shocked at how drastic the improvement was and wanted to know what I did. I didn't tell him everything I revealed here since he didn't pass me so you guys will benefit from my experience and pass the 2nd time. Sometimes people don't have to be a stickler about everything and I would have spilled the beans to him. :)
